Shah-i-Hamadan Institute of Islamic Studies was established back in 1988. Offering M.A. and Integrated Ph.D. programs in Islamic Studies, it serves as a hub for higher education seekers. Notably, it holds the record for producing the highest number of NET/SET/JRF/SRF recipients in the School of Social Sciences within the University. The institute’s annual academic and research journal, “Insight Islamicus”, is internationally recognized, indexed in the prestigious Index Islamicus in London, UK. In addition to fostering critical, objective, and analytical thinking, the institute is dedicated to promoting essential human values such as Composite Culture, Communal Harmony, Tolerance, Co-existence, and a Pluralistic outlook on society. Its departmental library boasts a collection of around 15,000 books and a repository of rare manuscripts authored by the esteemed Sufi, scholar, reformer, and thinker Sayyid ‘Ali Hamadani (RA). Operating under a Choice Based Credit System (CBCS), the department offers a diverse curriculum encompassing Tasawwuf (Sufism), Comparative Study of Religions, Ethics, Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Islamic Religious Sciences, Various Cultures and Civilizations, as well as the Study of Thinkers, Trends, and Movements.
